Four things we fix first

Every layer between the router and your favourite chair

Consumer support stops at a script and a reboot. A proper in-home visit covers the network, the devices, the backups and the smart home, and leaves everything working together rather than just working.

01 / NETWORK & WI-FI
MESH · WI-FI 6E · WHOLE HOME
Network & Wi-Fi

Router, mesh nodes and switches tuned so every room gets full speed, right out to the garden. Separate networks for work, family, guests and smart devices, so video calls never stutter when the kids are streaming.

02 / DEVICE SETUP
LAPTOP · PHONE · TABLET · PRINTER
Device setup & tuning

Laptops, phones, tablets, printers and smart displays set up properly, updated and tuned. Old devices retired cleanly, new ones migrated without losing a single photo, and every login working the way it should.

03 / BACKUPS & DATA
HOURLY · LOCAL · ENCRYPTED
Backups & data protection

Every phone, laptop and tablet backed up hourly to a local NAS. Family photos, documents and work files survive a dead drive, a lost phone or a spilled coffee, and you never pay a monthly cloud bill for the privilege.

04 / SMART HOME
ONE HUB · LIGHTS · TV · SPEAKERS
Smart home integration

Lights, TVs, speakers, thermostats and doorbells all talking to the same hub, with sensible routines built around how you actually live. One app, one remote, and no more juggling five different manufacturer apps.

Before and after

What changes after a proper in-home visit

Most homes already have plenty of technology. What they do not have is a setup that works together. The difference shows up every evening, when nobody can cast to the TV and the printer is offline again.

Before · self-installed

Five apps, three remotes, no shared network

A router from the ISP, a mesh node from the office, smart bulbs from the sales, and a printer nobody can find. Everything works, but nothing works together, and the person who set it up has long since moved on.

  • ✕Wi-Fi dies in the back bedroom and the garden studio
  • ✕Streaming buffers at 8 p.m. because everything shares one band
  • ✕Phones back up to a cloud plan that quietly ran out of space
  • ✕Nobody knows the router password, or how to fix the printer

The numbers every optimized home ships with

Every visit ends with a signed document: Wi-Fi speed per room, backup window, device inventory and network map. These are typical figures from a whole-home optimization.

Wi-Fi speed in every room
Full fiber

Line-rate speed at the router, and no less than 85% of that in the furthest room after mesh tuning.

Device boot time
< 15 sec

From cold to usable desktop on a tuned laptop. Background apps trimmed, startup items cleaned, drivers current.

Backup window
Hourly local

Phones, laptops and tablets snapshot hourly to the NAS, with a nightly encrypted copy to a second drive.

Response time
Same day

For existing clients, same day remote triage and next day on-site visits where a physical fix is needed.

Built around how you live

Every room has a different job

The home office needs rock-solid video calls. The living room needs 4K streaming without buffering. The kids' rooms need filtering and schedules. A good setup treats each of those differently, instead of one flat network for everything.

Coverage designed around the floor plan

Every room measured, every dead zone closed

We walk the house with a Wi-Fi analyser, look at where the walls are thick, where the garden studio sits, and where the neighbours' networks are strongest. Every mesh node and access point is placed against that. No dead zones in the back bedroom, and no signal leaking into the street.

Access, per person

Who gets which network, and on what device

Work laptops on the work network. Family devices on the family network. Guests on a filtered network that expires after the weekend. Kids on a schedule with weekly reports. Every device is named, assigned and documented.

Device inventory
Full history
Privacy by default

Smart devices on their own network

Every smart bulb, camera and speaker sits on an isolated IoT network. If a cheap smart plug gets compromised, it can never see your laptop or your family photos.

IoT isolation

Backups survive a house fire

Alongside the hourly local backup, an encrypted copy is written to a second drive in another room or building on the property, so a single incident never destroys the family archive.

Replication

Full property coverage

The whole home, not just the office

Main house, garden studio, garage workshop, pool house. Every building on the plot shares the same fast, secure network through point to point links, so streaming in the garden is as reliable as streaming in the living room. One network, one backup target, one engineer who knows the layout.

Every three months we review device health, firmware updates, backup integrity and network performance, so the setup stays fast long after the first visit.

Component choices

Every part chosen for the home, not for the catalogue

A city apartment, a country house and a coastal property each need a different combination of routers, mesh nodes and storage. We pick components around the building, the broadband line and the way you actually use your devices.

Routers & mesh nodes

Business-grade Wi-Fi 6E routers and mesh nodes, PoE-powered where possible, with separate VLANs for work, family, guests and smart devices.

Laptops, phones & tablets

Setup, migration and tuning for every personal device. Old machines retired cleanly, new ones transferred without losing a single photo or file.

Smart home hubs

Lights, speakers, TVs, thermostats and doorbells unified under one hub, with sensible routines and a single app for the whole house.

NAS & local storage

24 TB RAID-capable NAS with hourly snapshots, encrypted offsite copies and UPS backup, so the family archive survives any single hardware failure.

How we work

From the first walk-through to a signed setup document

A short, tidy process. We walk the home first, design around what we find, and you get a signed document of every device, password and network before we leave.

01

Home walk & audit

We walk the property with you, measure Wi-Fi in every room, list every device and every smart appliance, and note the pain points you actually experience day to day.

02

Design & plan

Network layout, mesh placement, VLAN plan, backup targets and smart home routines, all written down and agreed before a single cable is run or a single device is reconfigured.

03

Install & optimize

Router and mesh nodes installed, devices cleaned and migrated, backups configured, smart home routines built. Everything tested room by room with you present.

04

Verify & hand over

You receive the network map, device inventory, password list, backup window and Wi-Fi measurements per room, all in writing. We walk the home with you and confirm each room behaves as agreed.

A common situation

Three routers, five apps, one very tired family

This is the situation we see most often in homes that have some technology. A lot of devices, no system. And then something goes wrong on a Sunday evening.

Typical scenario · family home · mixed consumer kit

The Wi-Fi works, until everyone comes home.

The household had an ISP router in the hall, a mesh kit bought during lockdown, and a second router the previous owner left behind. Three separate networks, five apps to manage them, and a printer only one laptop could see. Everything worked, but nothing worked together.

What the audit uncovered
  • Three competing Wi-Fi networks. Phones jumped between them, dropping video calls every time someone walked down the hall.
  • Streaming starved at 8 p.m. One flat network meant the kids' downloads slowed everyone else down at exactly the wrong hour.
  • Backups had never run. The cloud storage plan had been full for two years, and nobody had noticed.
  • Smart devices on the main network. A cheap smart plug was sharing the same network as the family's work laptops.
  • No password list. Nobody knew the router password, and the previous owner's login was still active.

The fix was not more hardware. It was one properly placed mesh system, segmented networks, real local backups and a written document of every device, password and network. Same house, completely different experience the next Sunday evening.

One network, not three

Multiple overlapping routers slow everything down. A single tuned mesh beats a pile of consumer kits every time.

Segmentation is not optional

Work, family, guests and smart devices should not share one flat network. VLANs keep each group fast and safe.

Backups that actually run

A cloud plan that ran out of space two years ago is not a backup. Local, hourly and verified is the only kind that counts.

Documentation, always

If you cannot say which device is on which network and which password opens which account, the setup is a black box.

“

Before, video calls dropped every time I walked down the hall. Now I can take a client call from the garden studio and it never blinks.

Home office · whole-home Wi-Fi
“

The kids' tablets finally have proper schedules, and I get a weekly report. That alone was worth the visit.

Family home · parental controls
“

Our cloud backup had been full for years. Now everything is backed up hourly to a box in the study, and I sleep better.

Common questions

Before we book a visit

The things people usually ask us before the first walk-through.

Do I need to buy new hardware before the visit?

No. We always start by working with what you already own. During the walk-through we tell you exactly which pieces are worth keeping, which are limiting your speed, and which are worth replacing. You are never asked to buy anything before we have looked at the home. If new hardware is needed, we give you specific models to consider, but you are free to source them yourself.

Will you share my passwords or data with anyone?

No. Every password, backup and device inventory stays with you, stored on your own NAS and in a document you keep. We never store credentials on our own systems, and we never share anything with a third party. If you want us to hold a copy for future visits, we do that only on request, and only on your own hardware.

What happens if something breaks after the visit?

For existing clients, we offer same day remote triage and next day on-site visits where a physical fix is needed. Most issues can be resolved remotely in under an hour, and if we need to come back for something we set up, the return visit is included. Our goal is that you never have to fight with a call centre again.

Can you work with my ISP router, or do I need to replace it?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Many ISP routers are perfectly capable of running a whole home when they are configured properly and paired with the right mesh nodes. Others are genuinely limited by their hardware and will bottleneck even the best mesh system. During the walk-through we test the line and tell you honestly which category your router falls into.

How do you handle privacy in the home?

We only access the devices and networks you ask us to look at. We never browse personal files, we never open photo libraries, and we never install anything that reports back to us. If a device needs to be signed in to a personal account, we ask you to type the password yourself. Everything we do is documented and handed over at the end of the visit.

What about backups, can I still use my cloud plan?

Absolutely. We set up local hourly backups as the primary safety net, and if you already pay for a cloud plan we make sure it is actually running, actually has space, and actually covers the devices you care about. Many clients end up reducing their cloud plan after the visit, because the local backup covers most of what they were paying for.

How long does a typical visit take?

An Essentials visit is a half day. A Whole-Home Optimization is a full day. An Estate-grade setup is usually two to three days, scheduled around your availability. We always confirm the scope before booking, and we never leave a visit half-finished. If something needs a return trip, that is booked before we leave the property.
