The Right Tech,
Chosen For You
Unbiased expert consultancy and bespoke sourcing for every aspect of your technological life. Our internal professionals read the reviews, check the specs, weigh every option against your wishes and your use case, and tell you plainly which one to buy. Brand agnostic, commission free, written down.
Four ways the wrong purchase happens
Almost every regret we are asked to help with comes down to one of these four. None of them are your fault. All of them are avoidable with someone on your side who reads the reviews and knows the market.
Spec mismatch
Bigger numbers and longer feature lists are not the same as the right fit for your room, your seat or the way you actually watch, listen or work.
Bought advice
Most "best of" lists are ordered by commission, not quality. Sponsored badges, affiliate links and paid placements push the same three products at everyone.
Hidden costs
Warranties, cables, mounts, "setup services" and delivery fees quietly inflate the advertised price by 20-40% before you have even opened the box.
Analysis paralysis
Forty tabs open, three weeks of reading, and still nothing bought. Endless choice without a filter ends up costing more time than the money ever would.
Every layer between you and the wrong purchase
A spec sheet is only the beginning. What sits behind it, the reading, the cross-checking, the expertise and the honesty, decides whether you end up with the right thing or the one that was easiest to sell you.
We are not paid by any brand, take no affiliate commission, and gain nothing from pointing you at one product over another. The only metric we are judged on is your satisfaction, long after the box arrives.
Our internal professionals read dozens of trusted reviews, compare the measurements, weigh the trade-offs and argue through the options before anything reaches you. What you get is a clear recommendation with the reasoning behind it.
Two people with the same budget can need completely different things. Everything we recommend is filtered through how you actually live, work, watch and listen. If it does not fit the brief, it does not make the shortlist.
Every recommendation arrives in writing, with the reasoning, the trade-offs and the alternatives. If you want us to help with the order, the setup or the migration, we do. If you want to do it yourself, you have everything you need.
Full sourcing, or advice only
Some people want us to handle the whole process, from research to ordering to setup. Others just want a clear, unbiased second opinion from someone who is not trying to sell them anything. Both work, and you can switch between them.

What changes when someone is on your side
Most people are not careless. They just do not have the time, the access or the background to research premium tech properly, and every site they look at is trying to sell them something.
Adverts, affiliate links and 40 open tabs
Every "review" you read is paid for, every "best of" list is ordered by commission, and every salesperson you talk to is on a spiff. You end up buying the one that shouted loudest.
- ✕Every "independent review" is paid for by a brand you cannot see
- ✕The cheapest price hides the biggest extras, warranty and delivery upsells
- ✕Spec sheets lie about what actually matters in a real room
- ✕You spend twenty hours researching and still are not sure you got it right
One brief, one shortlist, one good decision
We take the brief, read the reviews you would never have time for, cross-check the specs against your actual use case, shortlist three candidates that genuinely fit, and write down what to buy and why.
- ✓Three shortlisted candidates, each with a plain-English reason for being on the list
- ✓Current market price compared across trusted retailers, no haggling theatre
- ✓Cross-checked against trusted independent reviews and technical measurements
- ✓Written recommendation you can act on, plus optional setup and support help
The numbers a typical engagement produces
Every engagement ends with a written sourcing report. These are the averages our clients see across all eight categories.
Reviews read, specs cross-checked and products compared before we recommend anything. The average buyer sees three adverts; you see the reasoning behind the shortlist.
The average customer spends over twenty hours researching a premium purchase and still feels unsure. We compress that into a shortlist and a written recommendation.
Nothing arrives as a WhatsApp message and gets forgotten. Every recommendation is written down, with the alternatives and the reasoning, so you can act on it or revisit it later.
Across every engagement we have run, the number of clients who have returned or replaced a purchase we recommended is zero. That is the only metric that matters.
Different lives, same unfair advantage
Two people with the same budget can need completely different things. Everything we recommend is tailored to how you actually live, work, watch and listen.
You cannot choose well from a spec sheet alone
The brief starts with what you actually do: the room you watch in, the music you listen to, the work you need the laptop for, the phone you have to carry. Every candidate gets scored against that, side by side. You see the shortlist, the reasoning and the current market price, before anything is ordered.
Every device in your life, from one brief
Once we know how you live, we can advise on everything from a fridge to a home cinema, a gaming rig to a smart doorbell. Nothing has to be researched twice, nothing gets bought blind, and nothing is ever out of date before it arrives.
Cinematic displays, matched to your room
Screen size, viewing distance, seating position, ambient light and content are all read against the reviews and measurements before we recommend a panel, then cross-checked one more time against your brief.
Your new phone, agreed before you buy
We match the model to how you use it, cross-check the real-world reviews for battery, camera, screen and repairability, help you find the best current market price and trade-in, and walk you through setup if you want.
Once you buy it, we stay involved
New models, firmware updates, warranty claims, upgrades and cross-compatibility questions all keep coming. The relationship does not end when the box arrives. Anything we recommend can be revisited, upgraded or replaced later by the same person who originally specified it, with the whole history written down.
Workstations, AV and comms, advised as a package
Small studios, clinics and agencies get the same treatment, sized to the team and specified as a coherent kit rather than a patchwork of ad-hoc purchases. Everything is documented as one system, brand agnostic and honest about where the money should go.
Eight categories, one brief, no bias
Two people with the same budget can need completely different things. We work across the whole premium tech landscape, brand by brand, so the answer is always the right fit rather than the easiest sale.

From the first brief to a written recommendation
A short, evidence-first process. We listen, we research, we cross-check, we write it down. You get the shortlist and the reasoning before you spend a penny.
Brief
One conversation, in person or remote. What you are trying to achieve, what you already have, the room, the budget and the constraints. Nothing is researched until the brief is clear.
Research
We read the trusted reviews, cross-check the technical measurements, compare the market pricing and shortlist three candidates that genuinely fit. No advert money touches this stage.
Recommend
You receive a written shortlist with the reasoning, the trade-offs, the alternatives and the current market price for each. This is the document you will make the decision from.
Support
If you want us to help with the order, the delivery, the setup or the migration, we do. If you want to do it yourself, we are on call for the questions that come up afterwards.
The TV that was almost right
This is the most common story we are asked to help with. No fraud, no mistake, just a well-reviewed screen that turned out to be wrong for the room it was going in.
A £2,400 television, three weeks of reading, and it still felt wrong
The first sign was the dialogue. Then the football looked blurry. Then the sun in the afternoon made half the screen unwatchable. Nothing was broken. The television was exactly what the reviews promised, and it was still wrong for the room. What was missing was not information, it was someone willing to say "not that one".
- The size was wrong for the distance. A 65" panel at 3.8 m is smaller than the guidelines suggest, but that is not what the reviews said and not what the shop recommended.
- The panel was glossy, the room was bright. A mirror-finish OLED looks spectacular in a dark demo room and unwatchable in a south-facing living room at 4 pm. The reviews did mention it, buried in the middle.
- The soundbar was undersized. A soundbar sized for a 55" TV was paired with a 65" one, so dialogue came from a strip that could not fill the room.
- No gaming mode. The panel did support VRR, but at 48-60Hz only, which is not enough for the consoles that were going to be plugged into it.
- The extras ate the budget. Extended warranty, wall mount, cables and "professional setup" added over £700 to a total that was already at the top of the range.
The fix was not dramatic. A different panel at the same price, sized correctly for the room, matte coated, with proper VRR for the consoles, paired with a soundbar that actually filled the space. All sourced from a trusted retailer at the current market price, with the reasoning written down so the decision felt obvious by the time it was made. Same budget, same room, completely different result.
Reviews are not a measurement
Every review is written for a generic room. Yours has a window, a wall and a sofa at a specific distance. Those decide more than the score does.
Time spent is not the same as research
Forty hours of reading is not forty hours of value if all forty hours are on sites that earn a commission from the same three brands.
Total cost is not the sticker price
Warranties, cables, mounts, delivery and "setup services" routinely add 20-40% to the price you thought you were paying.
Someone on your side changes the answer
The moment there is no commission on the table, the recommendation changes. It is usually cheaper, quieter and more obvious in hindsight.
I had already picked the one I was going to buy. One conversation later I bought something better for less money.
Home cinema clientReading the review was one thing. Reading the review and being told which part actually mattered for my room was something else.
Hi-fi clientThe whole flat was specified in a day and delivered in a week. I had spent three weekends reading and got nowhere near this.
Retainer clientBefore we start a brief
The things people usually ask us before the first conversation.
How are you different from asking ChatGPT or reading reviews?
Reviews, AI chat and video reviews are excellent at telling you what a product is. They are not good at telling you whether it is right for you. We take the brief, read the trusted reviews and technical measurements, cross-check the specs against how you actually use the thing, and write down what to buy and why. Critically, we have no commission riding on which one you choose. The last point alone changes the answer more often than not.
How do you get paid if you take no affiliate commission?
You pay us directly, for time and research, either per project or as a rolling retainer. That is the whole point: our incentive is a good outcome, not a specific brand. Prices on new stock are set by the market, so our value is not in haggling you a discount. It is in knowing which product to buy, where to buy it, when to buy it and what to leave out.
Do you only source premium kit?
No. We will recommend whatever fits the brief, and often that means a £300 monitor rather than a £3,000 one, because the brief did not need the extra. Premium just means the right one for the job, whether the job is a bedroom TV or a mastering studio.
Can you help if I have already bought something?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people call us. Sometimes the right advice is that the thing you bought is fine and we just need to help you set it up properly. Sometimes it is that it is genuinely wrong and we can help you return it and choose the right thing, at which point the same advisory process applies.
What if I know exactly what I want already?
Then we can usually just confirm it or tell you if a better option exists. We will be honest either way. You get the reassurance of a proper second opinion, and if the thing you wanted is genuinely the best fit for your brief, we will say so plainly and help you buy it.
Is there a minimum spend?
Not for consultancy. The advice itself scales down to any budget. For the full sourcing service the practical minimum is around £500 per item, because that is the level at which our time genuinely saves you money and stress. Below that we can still advise, but you will get better value just buying the thing.
Do you install as well as advise?
We can help with setup and migration on the full sourcing tier, but the primary service is independent advice, not installation. We will tell you honestly whether you need a proper installer for a specific job, and on the retainer tier we coordinate with trusted installers on your behalf.
What about warranties and support after the purchase?
Everything we recommend is covered by the manufacturer warranty, and we act as your first point of contact if something needs to be claimed. We keep the receipts, the warranty documentation and the serial numbers, so you do not have to keep track of any of it. For retainer clients we also handle replacements and repairs directly.
Tell us what you are trying to do
One conversation is usually enough to know whether we can help, what it would cost, and what the shortlist would look like. From a single television to a whole household's tech, Davidsons IT Agency advises, cross-checks and recommends, brand agnostic and always on your side.
